Summer Activities Guidebook for Northern Colorado

NoCo Summer Activities

One of my favorite things about Northern Colorado is the countless events that happen in the region. It is not hard to find an excuse to get outside, enjoy the weather, and build a greater sense of community. All of these things make the place that we live exceptional.

Summer Concert Series

Many cities/towns in the region do a summer concert series where they bring in local bands to play in a park. This is a great opportunity to hear some local music and enjoy the evening outside. Depending on when and where, some of these concerts are free and some there is an admission cost.

Staying Fit in the Sun

Colorado has a long reputation for being one of the fittest states in the nation, and that would explain why there are so many races that happen here in the summer. While many cities have races, the larger ones tend to be in Fort Collins and Loveland. Just a couple of examples of races that occur in Fort Collins during the summer are the famous Fire Cracker 5k which is done on the morning of the 4th of July. The Lake to Lake race also passes through both Fort Collins and Loveland. There is such an endless amount of recreational opportunities to help stay in shape and have some fun while doing so.

White Water: For Adrenaline Junkies and Amateurs

Another fan favorite of summer in Northern Colorado is the “white water” parks and river float opportunities. Don’t let the term white water scare you, most of the designs in town are not what you are necessarily picturing. Fort Collins has a white water park on the Poudre River near College Avenue. This can be a popular spot for kayakers and even tubers. People frequently tube the Poudre River and put in at various spots at the lower elevations. For a more thrilling experience, there are professional companies that will take you up the Poudre Canyon and truly white water raft. The Town of Windsor also just recently installed a water park along the Poudre River and it is located at Eastman Park. All of these are a must check out, but please be careful of water levels. With it being a river, there can be dangerous water conditions!
