Georgetown Loop Railroad
A Magical Holiday Experience
I was born and raised in Colorado, and just a couple of weeks ago for the first time in my life did I go and ride the Georgetown Loop Railroad. I got to experience this with my family, and all of us absolutely loved it, and it left me wondering why we hadn’t done this before.
Christmas Tradition Unlocked
The Georgetown Loop railroad runs during the summer months (which would be cool to do and see during the day) and then they do a Christmas special where the train goes up the mountain. During the Christmas ride, they have many lights displays to view along the route, which made me wonder what a pain it was to check all of those bulbs. Nonetheless, it was super cool. Some of the light display themes were based around Santa’s workshop and wildlife.
Getting a Bit More With the Presidential Class Seat
We rode in the Presidential Class level which is a little more expensive than the other seats but in my opinion, definitely worth it. Besides the dedicated boarding area, reserved seating which had a Harry and David box for each table, dedicated service and free drinks (non-alcoholic) it also came with a fun paper ticket like the Polar Express. This seating class also got a Christmas ornament and had Santa visit our train car. All of the kids got to tell Santa what they hoped for on Christmas morning, and provided for some great pictures.
Visiting Santa’s Village
Either before or after you board the train, you can walk around Santa’s village which is right near the station. They had multiple Christmas lights and decorations set up there, including Mrs. Claus’ hot cocoa shop which provided free hot chocolate after the train ride. They also gave a free chocolate chip cookie in the same building. It made for a magical Christmas experience that had something to offer everyone of all ages.
Georgetown Loop Railroad:
Worth Adding to the List
In talking with people who have done it before, and seeing the train’s website, it does sell out fast throughout the season. I believe this year, they opened up the reservations in August and we bought them around that timeframe. I would highly recommend doing this with friends and family. We are excited to try it during the summer now too.
