Post-WWII Housing Boom
By the mid-20th century, the country saw a dramatic shift in homeownership rates. In the years following World War II, homeownership rose to 64%, fueled by federal programs like the GI Bill, which made it easier for veterans to buy homes. Suburbs flourished as families sought more space and affordable housing outside city centers.
